Alex K

Alex K is an Australian-born DJ and producer from Sydney. He starts out on Australia’s first dance station, New Wave FM 99.3, before moving on to Wild FM, described as the country’s biggest dance network. Born Alex Karbouris, he is active in dance music and is associated with nrg, dance, UK hard house, house and eurotrance.

Career

At 16, Alex K handles the megamixes for the Wild Series compilation series, which sells more than 100,000 units. In 1996 he signs with Central Station Records and releases music on Dinky Records, a label also home to Nick Skitz, Ultrasonic and Amen UK. He also has releases through labels including Nukleuz, Ministry of Sound and AATW.

His work develops alongside artists such as Klubbheads and DJ Jean, within the bouncy and scouse house style that becomes central to his sound. He remixes music for Backstreet Boys, Sisqó, Delta Goodrem and Kylie Minogue.

Recordings and recognition

His compilation Ultimate NRG sells more than 100,000 units and goes gold in the UK in 2006. Ultimate NRG 4 is released on AATW Records and becomes the biggest-selling album in the series.

Work in the UK

Alex K lives in the UK and holds residencies at clubs including the Pleasure Rooms in Liverpool. He also tours across Europe and DJs regularly on Liverpool’s Juice FM.
