Alex Gaudino is a house, dance and electronic music DJ, producer and label founder from Salerno, Italy, born in 1970. He begins his career in 1993 with Flying Records and UMM, then goes on to found RISE Records in 1998 with support from Giacomo Maiolini, the owner of Time Records.

Record label work

RISE Records becomes one of the better-known European dance labels, releasing records by acts including The Tamperer, Black Legend and Robbie Rivera. Gaudino is described as the only Italian A&R to achieve two number one positions in the UK sales chart, and the success of Robbie Rivera’s “Bang” leads to his nomination as best European A&R at the European Music Awards in London in 2000.

Production and remixes

As a producer, he works with a number of dance and club releases in the early 2000s. In 2003 he issues two singles featuring Crystal Waters and Ultra Natè, including “Destination Unknown”, which is played by DJs such as Pete Tong and Judge Jules and reaches the top of the UK Buzz charts. He also works on projects including Supacupa and Sambatucada under the name Gaudino da Costa.

His remix of Mousse T.’s “Is It Cos I’m Cool?” is associated with summer 2004. In 2006 he releases “Reaction” on Ministry of Sound and Blue Lipstick’s “Head Over Heels” on Hed Kandi.

Projects and collaborations

In 2005 he releases Lil’ Love’s “Little Love”, which is nominated by Musica & Dischi as best Italian dance record of the year. The track is played exclusively by Pete Tong at Nikki Beach in Miami during WMC 2005, then released on Positiva in the UK and reaches the top of the club charts, including the top position in DJ Magazine’s chart. Later projects include 1 of 100’s “So Fast” with Maurizio Nari and Ronnie Milani, released on DATA/Ministry of Sound.

DJ career

Gaudino is also active as a DJ, with appearances at venues including AKA and The End in London, Tenax in Florence, Pacha Ibiza for Made in Italy, Jubilee in Liverpool, The China Lounge in Hamburg, Utopia in Warsaw, Club Slava in Moscow and Circolo Loco in Bilbao, as well as clubs across Italy.
