Alex Fox is an Argentine guitarist and composer from Buenos Aires, born in 1947. He begins playing piano at the age of six and then moves to classical guitar. He later receives a scholarship to study with the director of the Teatro Colón Symphony Orchestra, which helps him start a career as a conductor, teacher and composer.

Style and influences

Fox’s music draws on classical guitar, flamenco, classical rumba and Mediterranean musical traditions. His influences include Andrés Segovia, the Beatles, Paco de Lucía, the Gipsy Kings and Antônio Carlos Jobim, reflecting an approach that blends classical, popular, flamenco and Brazilian styles.

Career

In 1984, Fox moves to Miami, Florida and quickly builds a profile in South Beach. His first album, To the Gypsies, is recorded independently with limited funds and becomes widely heard, helping to establish his international reputation. After that, he continues to work independently through his own label, Coco Musical Inc.

Fox Trio and later work

Fox forms Fox Trio with his two sons, Sebastian and David. The group releases the album Fox Trio in 2001 and continues to perform at concerts, philanthropic events and private events around the world. Fox’s discography also includes Fly Away, Malaguena, C’est la vie, Personality, Guitar on Fire and Influences.
