Alex Charles is the electronic music project of Alex Botten, a Scottish musician based in Birmingham, UK. His work focuses on layering small audio events into dense, three-dimensional loops, with the repeated sounds building their own rhythm and shape. The music is associated with noise, electronics and experimental approaches.

Botten also performs under the name Thee Moths, and sometimes uses the name Thee Alex. He has described one period of work as a new project that is now on hold. One of his pieces, Violin, Bow, and Case, uses extended technique and amplified silence, and is built as an exercise in sculptural minimalism. It uses a simple contact microphone to record sounds from the named objects in ways that depart from their usual purpose.
