Alex Arnout is a UK house music producer and London DJ. He works under several aliases, including DaLunartikz, Dread Poets, Sublunar and Ceramix, and is also associated with the Dogmatik Records imprint.

Career

Arnout begins producing house music under different names in the late 1990s. In 1999, while engineering for Arthrob Records in London, he works with Daz I Kue of Bugz in the Attic and forms Da Lunartikz. The following year, the pair release “Higher”, a broken beat track that gains critical attention and support from Seiji, Bugz in the Attic and Cosmo.

He continues engineering for Arthrob for another three years, building experience through work with different producers. During this period he also holds residencies and guest slots at venues and events including Pin Up in Ibiza, Danzatoria in Barcelona, Fabric in London, Dance Valley in Amsterdam and Barcelona, Circo Loco in Ibiza, Club Loop in Tokyo and Mecca in Prague.

Ceramix and remixes

In 2003, Arnout reconnects with Leiam Sullivan and the two begin working in the studio together. They make a remake of “Can U Dance”, based on a 1986 Kenny Jammin Jason track. The track is played by DJs including Danny Tenaglia, Ray Roc, Sasha, Peace Division, Hector Romero, Satoshi Tomiie and DJ Disciple, and reaches number one on Pete Tong’s Essential Buzz, Coolcut and Mixmag charts.

Arnout and Sullivan then work together as Ceramix, producing original material and remixes for artists including Peace Division and Low End Specialists.

Dogmatik Records

Arnout later sets up Dogmatik Records in London with Sullivan. The label launches in 2006 and begins building a roster of artists and a following.
