Aleks Syntek

Aleks Syntek is a Mexican musician from Mérida, Mexico, born in 1969. He works in latin, latin pop and latin rock, and is associated with Aleks Syntek y la Gente Normal.

Career

By the late 1980s, he forms an alternative band with two friends. The group releases its first record, Hey Tú, through EMI in 1990, followed by Más Fuerte De Lo Que Pensaba in 1993. That album includes a contribution from Ray Manzarek, formerly of The Doors, on the track “Nuestras Costumbres”.

As Aleks Syntek y la Gente Normal, he tours Latin America while songs including “Mis Impulsos Sobre Tí”, “El Camino” and “Más Fuerte De Lo Que Pensaba” appear on major charts in Chile, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Argentina. The group releases Bienvenido a la Vida in 1995 and Lugar Secreto in 1997, with the latter produced by Rodolfo Cruz and Michael Rojkind.

Other work

Syntek also works on advertisements, television shows and films. In addition, he and his group take part in a Latin tribute to the British band Queen. In 1999, he produces the soundtrack for the Mexican film Sexo, Pudor y Lágrimas.
