AIRtist

AIRtist is a music project built around didgeridoo, Jew’s harp and human beatbox, using no electronically produced sound. Its music aims for an electronic dance music feel through acoustic instruments and human voice, with the natural vibration of the instruments providing the sound. The group presents a sound centred on ancient instruments and beatboxing, and it is associated with alternative music and didgeridoo performance.

Formation and members

The project comes from an encounter between three musicians. In 2006, at the Israeli Didgeridoo Festival, Markus Meurer on didgeridoo, Áron Szilágyi on Jew’s harp and the beatboxer Inon perform together and draw a large crowd to dance. Markus and Áron then look for a beatboxer in Europe to complete the group. A few months later, Áron meets Döme, a beatbox champion, who joins the project.
