Aiden

Aiden is a punk rock band from Seattle, United States, active from 2003 to 2016. The group forms in 2003 and is associated with alternative rock, post-hardcore and rock, with tags that also place it in punk, emo, screamo and emocore. The band takes its name from a character called Aiden in the film The Ring.

Line-up and membership

Over the course of the band’s career, members include Steve Clemens, Jake Wambold, Jake Davison, Angel Ibarra, Nick Wiggins, William Francis, Keef West, Ian MacWilliams, Kenneth Fletcher and Ben Tourkantonis. At one point the band’s active line-up is listed as William Control on vocals and guitar, Nick Wiggins on bass, Keef West on drums and Ian MacWilliams on guitar.

Releases and activity

Aiden releases six full-length albums, two EPs and two live DVDs. In 2004 the band signs to Victory Records, while some members are still in high school. Their second album and first for Victory, Nightmare Anatomy, appears in 2005. The EP/DVD Rain in Hell follows in 2006 and includes the acoustic track “Silent Eyes” and the opening piece “A Candlelight Intro”, alongside three music videos and a live performance from the band’s “Never Sleep Again Tour” in Chicago.

The band tours with Silverstein and It Dies Today in 2006. Its third studio album, Conviction, is released in 2007 and marks a major shift in style. Guitarist Jake Wambold leaves in 2008, and the band returns to the studio later that year. Knives follows in 2009, with the single “Scavengers of the Damned” released first. The live album From Hell...With Love appears in 2010.

In 2011 Aiden releases Disguises and later that year puts out Some Kind of Hate, the band’s sixth full-length album. After that, Jake Davison leaves in 2011 and is temporarily replaced by Ryan Seaman for part of the “Horror Nights” tour. Angel Ibarra, a founding member, announces his departure in 2012.
