Agent Side Grinder
Agent Side Grinder is an electronic group from Stockholm, Sweden, formed in 2005. The group’s sound sits in industrial, post-punk and minimal synth territory, with early material also described as dark electro. Peter Fristedt is a member of the group.
Albums and style
The group’s first two albums, Agent Side Grinder and Irish Recording Tape, appear in 2008 and 2009 and establish its post-punk and industrial approach. Its third album, Hardware, appears in 2012 and presents a larger, more textured sound. That release receives wide acclaim, is named album of the month by Vice magazine, and appears on several annual best-of lists including those of Dagens Nyheter, Metro and Time Out Paris. It also wins the Manifest award for best synth album in 2013.
Live work and collaborations
Agent Side Grinder tours across Europe five times and plays festivals including Wave-Gotik Treffen, The Great Escape, Eurosonic, Paaspop, Les Transmusicales de Rennes, Drop Dead Festival and Arvikafestivalen. The group also opens for acts including Suicide and Cold Cave, and collaborates with Dirk Ivens, Kite and Henric de la Cour.
Later releases
In 2013, the group releases a North American edition of Hardware and an extensive remix album called SFTWR.
