Agent K is the alias of Kaidi Tatham, a multi-instrumentalist and producer associated with the West London broken beat scene. He works across broken beat, breakbeat, nu jazz, soul and related club styles, and has recording credits stretching back to the early 1990s.

Career

Tatham records both under his own name and as Agent K. He is linked with a number of West London projects and groups, including Neon Phusion, Bugz In The Attic, 4hero, Silhouette Brown, Tatham, Mensah and Lord & Ranks. He is regarded as one of the key figures in the development of broken beat in West London.

During the 1990s, he is an associate of Fela Kuti and Roy Ayers, and he is also a member of the Ninja Tune hip-hop and electronica group the Herbaliser. In the 2000s he remains active in West London’s music community, contributing flute, keyboard and percussion to recordings by other artists.

Recordings and releases

Among the recordings he contributes to are 4hero’s Creating Patterns album and Seiji’s Homecookin' work. As a solo producer, he releases music on Laws of Motion. His 2002 full-length Feed the Cat, issued under the Agent K name, is one of his best-known releases.
