After The Burial

After The Burial is an American metal group from Minneapolis–Saint Paul, with origins in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Formed in 2004, the band works in deathcore, djent, metalcore, progressive metal, and progressive metalcore, and it is active from 2004 to the present.

Style and sound

The band develops an aggressive style built around heavy rhythmic attacks and dual-guitar work. Trent Hafdahl and Justin Lowe are central to its sound, with a focus on intricate riffing and the use of 7- and 8-string guitars. Their music reaches listeners across heavy metal, hardcore, and death metal audiences, and it is associated with progressive and technically demanding metal forms.

Albums and recording

After The Burial records full-length albums including Forging a Future Self (2006), which is self-produced, Rareform (2008), Rareform Re-Issue (2009), a remastered and re-recorded version of the original album, and In Dreams (2010). Rareform is especially notable for highlighting the band’s extended-range guitar work.

Tours and collaborators

The group tours with a range of heavier acts, including Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, Necrophagist, and Hatebreed. Its line-up includes members such as Nick Wellner, Justin Lowe, Lerichard Foral, Trent Hafdahl, Grant Luoma, Anthony Notarmaso, Dan Carle, and Anthony Notarmasu.

Membership and history

Justin Lowe is a founding member and guitarist. He leaves the band in 2015. The group continues after his departure.
