Adventure Club
Adventure Club is a dubstep duo from Montréal, Canada, made up of Christian Srigley and Leighton James. The group is active from 2011 and works in electronic music, with genre tags including drum and bass, dubstep, EDM and electro house.
Background
The duo forms while both members are at high school in Montréal. They start out as a hardcore pop-punk band, then move into electronic dance music in 2011 after becoming dissatisfied with the pop-punk sound. They later become based in Montréal, Quebec, and develop a style centred on high-pitched female vocals, electronic production and heavy drops.
Breakthrough and releases
Adventure Club first gains wider attention through a remix of Brand New’s “Daisy”, which appears on The Hype Machine. Online sharing helps them reach a larger audience, and their first music video appears on the UKF Dubstep YouTube channel.
They are also known for remixes of “Lullabies” by Yuna and “Crave You” by Flight Facilities. Their debut album, Red // Blue, is released in 2016.
Influences and sound
The duo cites Tiësto, Flux Pavilion, Greeley Estates, Bring Me the Horizon and Skrillex among its major influences. Their music combines dubstep with electronic dance music and a polished, vocal-led sound.
