Adj
Adj is the alias of Andy, an electro DJ and producer from London. His first release under the name 3 Elements appears in 1995 on his own Analogique label, which runs until 1998 and issues electro and soulful techno. In 1996 he works as a music buyer for IQ record store, which becomes a key underground electronic music shop and helps establish his reputation as one of the capital’s respected electro DJs.
In 1998 he connects with the Outside Records circle, beginning a long-running artistic partnership and securing later DJ tours. In the same year he holds residencies at Technology, Sub Terrain, Electric Kingdom and Arthrob at The End in London. He also organises IQ Records parties in an old theatre in London’s West End and promotes three-day parties at a 17th-century chateau in Normandy.
After the end of IQ Records in 1999, he opens Pyramid, a small Soho record shop focused on electro, IDM and electronica. The following year he launches the Pyramid Transmissions imprint with label partner John Cranmer. He and Cranmer soon begin collaborating on tracks, and he also starts a long series of productions with Jeff Nagel and other Outside artists.
Since 2000, Adj holds DJ residencies at Perverted Science, Wang and Scand in London, The Lost Mine in Birmingham and UFO in Plymouth. His DJ work takes him to Germany, France, Belgium and the United States, where he plays for Electro Alliance in Miami, E.L.M. in California and Outside in Charlotte. As a producer, he releases tracks on District Six, Millennium, Outside, Touchin Bass, Ai and Pyramid Transmissions. He and Pathic continue to collaborate and perform live sets in venues across London and the UK.
