Adam Freeland

Adam Freeland is a UK DJ and producer associated with breakbeat-based electronic music, including breakbeat, electronic and nu skool breaks. He is from Welwyn Garden City in the United Kingdom and is a former resident of Brighton, England; he is based in Los Angeles.

Career

Freeland works as a DJ and remixer under his own name, and as a producer he forms one half of Tsunami One with Kevin Beber. He also releases solo material under the name Freeland. His work places him within the wider dance and electronica scene, and he has a long-standing presence on the international club and festival circuit.

He also operates as the owner and creative director of the record label Marine Parade. The label releases material by artists including Evil Nine, ILS, Alex Metric and Jape.

Releases

Marine Parade releases Freeland’s full-length breakthrough album, Now & Them. The album includes “We Want Your Soul,” a track that becomes a Top 40 hit in several countries and is accompanied by an award-winning video.

The follow-up album appears in spring 2009 and features guest contributions from Joey Santiago of Pixies, Tony Bevilacqua, Brody Dalle and Jerry from Devo.

Freeland’s work is linked to breakbeat, electronic and nu skool breaks. He is also associated with The Acid. His own account of his musical direction places him between artists such as Soulwax, Sonic Youth, Justice and My Bloody Valentine.
