Acoustic Ladyland

Acoustic Ladyland are a UK jazz and experimental rock group active from 2004. The band is associated with avant-garde jazz, experimental rock, jazz, and jazz blues, and its membership includes Tom Herbert and Sebastian Rochford. Earlier line-ups include Pete Wareham on saxophone, Chris Sharkey on guitar, Ruth Goller on bass, and Sebastian Rochford on drums.

The group forms in response to a dislike of musical sterility and a preference for the more forceful end of contemporary music. It builds a reputation through a series of three albums that win awards and critical attention. One later album, Living With A Tiger, is described as a particularly strong and lucid release in the band’s catalogue.

Band members also work with a wide range of other artists and projects, including Supergrass, Brian Eno, David Byrne, Polar Bear, Trio VD, Jack De Johnette, Basquiat Strings and Dennis Hopper Choppers. Acoustic Ladyland also attracts support from listeners including Scott Walker, Chris Morris and The Mighty Boosh. The group is known for its live performances and is associated with London’s jazz and experimental scenes.
