Acollective

Acollective is a group from Tel Aviv, Israel, formed in 2008 and active from then on. The band includes דניאל שהם, נדב לוזיה, עידן רבינוביץ, Roy Rabinovici, רועי ריק and עמנואל סלונים.

Overview

The band develops a sound that moves between folk, Middle Eastern funk, boogie-folk, electronic jazz and blues-influenced styles, with a focus on energetic live performance. Their early shows in Tel Aviv become a weekly gathering and then develop into sold-out appearances, building a strong local following and critical attention in Israel. Their performances also earn them a reputation for intense concerts and a wide use of instruments and styles.

Activity and performances

Since 2009, Acollective tours and lives between Israel, France and the UK. Their live profile leads to support slots with Okkervil River and José González, and their work receives attention in international music press. They also record a session at the private studio of Manic Street Preachers.

Releases

The band’s album Onwards is produced by Chris Shaw, who works with Bob Dylan, Super Furry Animals and Guillemots among others, and is released in 2011.

Later activity

By the end of 2019, Acollective declares an indefinite cease in activity and gives two farewell concerts at the Barby club in Tel Aviv.
