Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O.

Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. are a Japanese psychedelic group from Nagoya, Japan, active since 1995. The group forms part of the wider Acid Mothers Temple collective and is led by guitarist Kawabata Makoto.

Style and activity

The group works across acid rock, drone, heavy psych, noise rock, psychedelic rock and space rock. They build a large body of recordings and are known for frequent album releases on a range of international labels. Their live performances are also a significant part of their reputation.

Formation and line-up

The project begins in 1996 within the Acid Mothers Temple soul-collective and, in its early years, includes a large number of musicians. By 2004, the line-up settles around four core members with regular vocal guests. The group later develops into a broad set of offshoots and permutations, showing how the project expands beyond a single fixed line-up.
