Achren

Achren are a Glasgow metal group active since 2003. They are associated with the term “Blood Metal”, a description that reflects their combination of crushing heaviness, raw and sharp riffing, death metal growls, black metal screams and heavy drumming.

Style and development

The group’s sound draws on black metal and death metal, with a focus on extreme vocals and dense, forceful guitar work. Over the course of their first two demos and later releases, they help establish and develop the “Blood Metal” label for their music.

Line-up and live profile

The line-up solidifies in 2009. From that point, Achren build a reputation as a notable and feared live band in the UK metal scene. Gordon Johnston is listed as a member.

Releases and appearances

Achren release their debut full-length album, The Forgotten King, at Bloodstock Festival in 2011. In the same year they appear at Metalcamp Festival in Slovenia and at Wacken Festival in Germany.
