Accu

Accu is a Finnish electronic music group active since 1998. It forms after the breakup of Heads and Bodies and begins as a project led by cousins Lacce and Harpov. The line-up later expands to a trio with the addition of Jere Garcia, and the group is associated with Risto Eskolin.

Style and recordings

The group works in electronic music with chillout, downtempo and psychedelic elements, and it develops a sound described as both modern and familiar. Its first CD release, Accu, appears in 2002 and receives a strong reception. The album is noted for drawing comparisons to Beach Boys, Happy Mondays, Abba and Yello, reflecting its blend of lounge, pop and electronic styles.

Accu’s second album, Lasso, includes the singles In The City and Out of the Blue, the latter featuring Laura Närhi. The record includes tracks such as Night Freak, Rolling, Cooper King, Coupé, Cheka Kalupan, Who is Who, Troubles, Puff Why U Diddy? and Back In The Days, moving between disco, futuro-disco and trip-hop.

Live work

Accu is also known for combining music with live visual performance. Its shows use moving images and can include a variable number of live musicians and gogo dancers, depending on the production.

The group appears at numerous festivals and events, and its releases attract favourable attention for their blend of disco, lounge and electronic sounds.
