AC Slater is a US electronic music producer and DJ whose work centres on bass-heavy house, with earlier associations to dubstep, electro, fidget house and house. Born in 1979, he is also linked to 92 Eternal and to the label Night Bass.

Career

He begins releasing music in 2008 with a remix of “Turn the Music Up” on Trouble & Bass, a track that becomes an early signature record for him. The remix draws attention from Moby, who includes it among the decade’s best tracks and describes it as a “perfect song”.

Slater builds a catalogue of more than 100 tracks and remixes, including the Jack Got Jacked EP, and becomes closely associated with a style that combines house with the bass lines of UK garage and elements of old-school rave, including synths and breaks. His work is played by DJs such as Skrillex, Diplo and Jack Beats at major festivals and clubs.

Collaborations and remixes

He works with artists ranging from Nina Sky to Far East Movement, and produces official remixes for Big Sean, Moby and Robin S., among others.

Radio, touring and events

Slater tours internationally and his tracks and guest mixes appear on radio stations including BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM and Triple J. He runs the record label Party Like Us, and his monthly Los Angeles event Night Bass develops into a notable bass-focused dance night.
