AbraSKAdabra
AbraSKAdabra is a six-piece ska-core group from Curitiba, Brazil, active since 2003. Their sound sits across ska punk, punk rock, reggae, punk, pop punk and ska, and they are described as one of the few ska acts operating nationally in Brazil.
Band history
The group develops within a lively local scene and builds its reputation over more than a decade of activity. In the years covered by the account, it plays support slots for a range of hardcore and ska acts, including Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish. It also completes a full tour supporting Voodoo Glow Skulls and Mad Caddies.
Releases and recordings
AbraSKAdabra's first full-length album appears in 2012 and contains 11 tracks. The band later records an EP titled Fun as in Fungus itself, with six new songs. A ska version of No Use for a Name's Not Your Savior also wins a contest to appear on the soundtrack for a documentary about Fat Wreck Chords.
Live activity
The band tours the United States for the first time as part of this period in its career, while continuing to perform with a style that combines energetic riffs, strong melodies and Brazilian influences.
