Abrasive Wheels

Abrasive Wheels are a punk group from Leeds, United Kingdom, active from 1977 to the present. They are associated with punk, street punk, Oi and hardcore punk, and are known for the large, rowdy choruses that define much of their music. They become the biggest punk band to emerge from the Leeds area and develop a reputation within the local scene as one of its most prominent acts.

The band’s early run is comparatively short, but its impact on the punk scene is described as important and influential. Their work leaves a lasting legacy through a series of singles and albums issued across several labels, including Abrasive, Riot City, Clay and SOS Records. Their releases include the 7-inch records The ABW EP, Vicious Circle, Army Song, Burn ’Em Down, Jailhouse Rock, Banner Of Hope and The Prisoner; the 12-inch The Prisoner; and the albums When The Punks Go Marching In, Black Leather Girl, Nothing to Prove, Maybe Tomorrow 2 and SKuM.

The group’s line-up includes Chris Bertram, Harry Harrison, Dave Hawkridge, Mark Holmes, Steve Popplewell, Dave Ryan, Shonna, The Skruff, Eden Townsley and Tony Nevison.
