Abram Wilson is a jazz trumpeter and bandleader born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, in 1973 and active until his death in 2012. He grows up in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he attends the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), a school focused on jazz and classical music.

After leaving NOCCA and high school, he studies classical trumpet with Larry Griffin at Ohio Wesleyan University and earns a bachelor’s degree in music education. He then continues at the Eastman Conservatory in Rochester, New York, where he completes a master’s degree. At Eastman, he studies jazz performance and composition with Ralph Alessi, Mike Cain and Fred Sturm, and classical trumpet with Barbara Butler.

After graduating, Wilson moves to New York, where he starts his own band and works on music education projects. In 2002, he moves to London, where he lives afterwards. His first solo album, Jazz Warrior, is released in 2004.

Wilson dies of colon cancer on 9 June 2012.
