Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties
Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties is the solo project of Dan “Soupy” Campbell, best known as the frontman of The Wonder Years. Based in the United States, the project sits across americana, emo, heartland rock, indie folk, midwest emo and singer-songwriter styles, and is presented as a character study carried out through music. Campbell performs under the persona of Aaron West rather than using his own name.
Formation and concept
The project begins in 2014 with an introduction video released through Hopeless Records. From the outset, it is built around the fictionalised character of Aaron West, with the songs telling his story rather than functioning as conventional autobiographical material.
Releases
The first album, We Don't Have Each Other, appears in 2014. An EP titled Bittersweet follows in 2016. The project also issues occasional singles between releases. Its second full-length album, Routine Maintenance, is released in 2019.
