A.A. Bondy

A.A. Bondy, born Auguste Arthur Bondy in Louisiana, United States and also known as Scott Bondy, is an American folk and alternative artist. He is the former lead singer of the Birmingham, Alabama band Verbena, which is identified in the genre list here as his band membership and in the text as a Southern grunge act.

Career

After Verbena breaks up in 2003, Bondy moves to a home in Palenville in the Catskills in upstate New York. There, he returns to songwriting and develops a stripped-down indie folk style. He records and mixes his debut album, American Hearts, at a barn near his home. The album first appears in 2007 on the Superphonic label and is later reissued by Fat Possum in 2008.

Bondy follows this with When the Devil's Loose in 2009 and Believers in 2011. His work is associated with folk, indie folk, alt-country and Americana.
