601 are a UK breaks and breakbeat group made up of George Miller and Nathaniel Slater, also known as Nat Slater. They come from Harrogate, North Yorkshire and focus on big, brash breaks with a strong funk influence.

Releases and label work

Alongside their own productions, 601 run the Polar Red label. Their catalogue includes releases such as FiveO / Influenza on Epidemic Recordings, Alligatorman and Grymee on Polar Red, The Payoff on Hot to Trot, Grymee 2007 VIP Mix on Ape, and Hit That Switch on Waveshape. They also release remixes through labels including Polar Red, Hot To Trot, Waveshape, Epidemic and Ape.

Radio and DJ activity

The duo present a weekly radio show called Dirty North on Breaksfm.com. They also appear on Jay Cunning’s Kiss100 radio show and record an exclusive 30-minute mix for Annie Nightingale on Radio 1, which includes material from their album Dirty North.

Remixes and collaborations

601 remix tracks for Hidden Forces, Majool, Rico Tubbs, Grand Def Audio, Anti-Science, Lightshapers, Access Denied, 4kuba, Ben and Lex and Llupa. Their own work also receives remixes from Afghan Headspin, Ben and Lex, and Grand Def Audio.

Other activities

They rehearse a live show and work on an album called Dirty North. The duo are long-time collaborators and continue to work together under the 601 name.
