45 Grave

45 Grave is a punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1979. The original lineup includes Dinah Cancer on vocals, Paul Cutler on guitar, Rob Ritter, also known as Rob Graves, on bass, and Don Bolles, who also plays with the Germs, on drums.

Origins and style

The band develops out of Vox Pop, a proto-industrial group that records two singles and plays in the Los Angeles area, including an opening slot for the final performance of Throbbing Gristle in Culver City. Vox Pop includes all of the members who later form 45 Grave, along with other musicians such as Jeff Dahl. Vox Pop and 45 Grave continue to exist at the same time until early 1981.

45 Grave helps create a hybrid of horror punk and gothic rock that later becomes known as deathrock.

Later activity

In 2004, 45 Grave reforms for its 25th anniversary with a completely new lineup, with Dinah Cancer as the only member from earlier versions of the band. The group has the blessing of former members. In 2010, a remake of the cult horror film Night of the Demons includes 45 Grave's title song.
