3LAU is the stage name of Justin Blau, an American electronic music artist from Las Vegas, Nevada. His work centres on mashups that combine mainstream pop material with electronic dance music, and he begins making these mashups in 2011. Before using the 3LAU name, he records shoegaze music under the alias Glimpse.

Background

Blau attends Washington University in St. Louis and studies finance before leaving in 2012 to focus on music full time. He is born in 1991. His releases and performances sit within electronic, EDM, electro house, house and progressive house.

Style and releases

His mashup approach becomes known through tracks such as “Girls Who Save the World” and “All Night Long”. These pieces draw attention on blogs and appear on Hypem’s top 50, with both tracks attracting substantial favourite counts. 3LAU cites Deadmau5, Wolfgang Gartner, Avicii and Burial as major influences.
