36 Crazyfists

36 Crazyfists are an alternative metal and metalcore group from Anchorage, United States. Formed in December 1994, they begin as a rapcore band before moving towards the heavier metalcore sound heard on their major label debut, Bitterness the Star, which appears in 2002.

Career

The group first signs to Roadrunner Records. In 2006, they move American distribution of Rest Inside the Flames to DRT Entertainment after repeated delays from Roadrunner US, while remaining on Roadrunner in the UK, where they receive support in Europe. In July 2007 they sign a worldwide deal with Ferret Records. Their first album for Ferret, The Tide and Its Takers, appears in 2008.

After Bitterness the Star, the band tours the US with Candiria, God Forbid, Chimaira, Diecast and Hotwire, then plays Europe on the Road Rage tour with Killswitch Engage and Five Pointe O. A Snow Capped Romance follows in 2004, produced by James Wisner, who also works with Dashboard Confessional and Further Seems Forever.

Line-up and name

The group's core line-up includes Brock Lindow on vocals, Steve Holt on guitar, Brett Makowski on bass and Thomas Noonan on drums. Other members listed for the band include JD Stuart, Ryan Brownell, Mick Whitney and Kyle Baltus. Rest Inside the Flames includes Jonah Jenkins of Miltown, along with Howard Jones and Tom Gomes of Killswitch Engage.

The band's name comes from the film Jackie Chan and the 36 Crazy Fists, a kung-fu movie featuring Jackie Chan.
