33 Below

33 Below is the electronic project of Jack Laven, a New Zealand artist based in London. He grows up in small-town New Zealand and starts making music as a creative outlet, using software to develop his sound.

Style and releases

His music moves between drum and bass, UK garage and related electronic styles, including emotional and liquid forms of each. His debut EP, Motions, comes out on Th3rd Brain Records and includes the singles “Keep You As A Memory”, “Next to Me” and “Cycles”. The release is accompanied by visual content.

Collaborations, remixes and live activity

33 Below continues to broaden his sound through remixes and collaborations. He releases a garage remix of Odd Mob’s “LEFT TO RIGHT”, works with San Francisco producer demotapes on “sedatives”, and issues an official remix of SILK’s “Quiver”. His live profile includes festival appearances, support dates, including support for Fred Again.. on Fred Again..’s only New Zealand show, and sold-out headline shows.

Reception and development

His work draws attention from DJs and producers including Disclosure, What So Not, DJ EZ and AC Slater. Across his releases, he develops a mixed-genre approach that places him within contemporary electronic music and drum and bass.
