1986

1986 is an indie rock and garage rock project from Austin, United States, active since 2004. The group consists of Giorgio Angelini and Cully Symington.

Background

Angelini and Symington build the project around making independent music with a heavier, louder edge. Both are connected to a number of other bands and projects, including Bishop Allen, The Rosebuds, The Gutter Twins, Cursive and Okkervil River. Their work on 1986 develops alongside their touring and recording activity with those groups.

Recordings and collaborators

The band records Everybody Is Whatever I Think They Are, a release produced by TJ Doherty, who also works with Wilco, Joanna Newsom and Steve Malkmus. The record also features guitar contributions from Duane Denison of The Jesus Lizard and Adam Franklin of Swervedriver.
