13 is a New York sludge and doom metal group formed in 1992. The band begins as Thunderpussy 13 in 1990, then shortens its name after guitarist Liz Buckingham and drummer Ellen Mieczkowski establish the project. It later includes vocalist Alicia Morgan and bassist Sean, who joins in 1992 and leaves in 1993. The band’s members are linked to Electric Wizard and Sourvein, and Buckingham later plays with Electric Wizard.

The group’s lyrics often focus on alienation and abuse. Its stated aim is to make music “that hurts you physically when you hear it”, with influences including Celtic Frost, St. Vitus, Melvins, Winter and Mountains. Its first demo contains three tracks and includes a guest appearance from Dan Lilker of Nuclear Assault and Brutal Truth.

13 also releases split 7-inch records with Grief and with Eyehategod, and plays shows with acts including Pungent Stench, St. Vitus, Buzzoven, Misery, Chaos UK, Cathedral, Pentagram and Incantation. The band issues the single Hollow on Relapse Records before calling it quits. Liz Buckingham and Alicia Morgan also record with members of Eyehategod in the side project Never.
