1000mods

1000mods are a Greek stoner rock band from Korinthia, originally from Chiliomodi. They form in 2005 and are active from that point on. Their music sits within desert rock, doom metal, psychedelic, stoner metal and stoner rock, and they are associated with Ouga Booga and the Mighty Oug Recordings.

Band lineup

The group’s lineup is Dani on bass and vocals, Giannis on guitars, George on guitars and Labros on drums.

Early releases and recordings

They begin by self-financing their first EP, Blank Reality, which appears on CD in 2007. In 2009 they release the 7" EP Liquid Sleep on coloured light green vinyl through SuiSound, also connected with CTS productions. They also issue a limited split tape with the German band Wight.

Debut album and production

In 2010 they record their debut album Super Van Vacation with Billy Anderson, who has worked on albums by Sleep, Melvins, Neurosis, Om, Los Natas and Orange Goblin. The artwork is handled by Malleus Art Rock Lab. The album is later released on double vinyl by the German label Kozmik Artifactz and on digipack CD by CTS prods in 2011.

Live activity

1000mods play hundreds of live shows and open for Brant Bjork, Colour Haze, Karma to Burn, My Sleeping Karma, Radio Moscow and others. They tour Europe in October 2011, performing 24 concerts in 12 countries. During that run they appear as special guests at Up In Smoke 3 and support White Hills.

Sound and approach

The band are noted for using vintage equipment, a thick analogue sound and an intense live performance style.
