The UK’s best unsigned acts – as winners of Live & Unsigned 2012 – are set to perform at the Sundown Festival as the East of England’s most progressive live-music event of the summer brings more fresh new names to the attention of festival goers

Overall winners of Live & Unsigned 2012, CoCo and the Butterfields – an acoustic ‘Fip Fok’ band whose style comprises a blend of Hip-Hop, Folk and Pop genres – will perform the opening set on the Main Stage on the Sundown Festival’s first day, Saturday 1 September

Beating 10,000 other acts to win Live & Unsigned means CoCo and the Butterfields scooped the prize of £10,000 to develop their music, along with a series of dates performing at summer festivals, including Sundown

Also on Saturday’s Main Stage, is the Under-18 category winner of Open Mic 2011 (a spin-off competition from Live & Unsigned), Hatty Keane, who beat 9,000 acts to the crown, has since been signed by BGM and Future Music and went on to perform alongside Tinchy Stryder, Ed Sheeran and Wretch32, among others, in the past year

A third artist to emerge from the Live & Unsigned contests, and set to open the Main Stage at Sundown on Sunday 2 September, is the winner of the Urban & Pop category of the 2012 competition, Molly Smitten-Downes, whose track Shadows – from her debut EP – was sampled by Grime artist ‘Marger’ and was heavily supported by 1Xtra and Kiss FM

With Olly Murs, Katy B, Pixie Lott, Diana Vickers, Stooshe, Zane Lowe, Ms Dynamite, Sub Focus, Delilah, Dot Rotten, Labrinth, Josh Osho, Parade, Intensi-T and headliners Chase & Status Live rocking the Main Stage over the two-day festival and with Stage 2 playing host to the likes of Feed Me Live, Radio 1/1Xtra’s Mista Jam, Funtcase, Zinc, Wilkinson and 16 Bit, presented by UKF on Saturday 1 September, dance brand KISS will present headliner David Rodigan MBE, Sway Live, EZ, Shortee Blitz, MJ Cole and Charlie Hedges on Stage 2 for the Sunday night

In addition, one of the biggest, most successful model agencies in the world, NEXT Models – who represent supermodels Arizona Muse and Karlie Kloss, as well as talent including Professor Green - is set to deploy an army of talent scouts to the event later this summer to look for new faces

‘Weekenders’ (Campers) will also be able to enjoy a pre-event party, on Friday 31 August, with an exclusive, intimate set by renowned DJ, Jaguar Skills, late that night in the Warehouse, as well as being treated to further exclusive after-show parties in the Warehouse, performed by B Traits and Breakage on the Saturday night, and RATPACK on the Sunday night

Sundown Festival spokesman, Dion Clements comments: “We’re very pleased to welcome the winners of the Live & Unsigned competition to our festival. The competition, and its spin-offs, has a history of producing fine artistes and we’re confident music fans at this year’s Sundown will be pleased to be among the first people to see them perform live”
