Exciting news, multi-award winning Festival No.6 has today announced its headliners for this year’s festival with Hot Chip, Bastille and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds all on the bill.

Multi-award winning Festival No.6 has today announced the headliners for this year’s festival – Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Hot Chip and Bastille.

Closing the festival this year is legendary singer/songwriter, idol and raconteur Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

The outspoken father of alternative-rock, undoubtedly the most influential British musician of the last two decades, will perform an incomparable set on the Sunday night packed full of some of the most iconic hits of a generation.

Headlining Saturday night are genre-busting dance nerds Hot Chip. Following widespread critical acclaim for their sixth studio album Why Make Sense? the indietronic troubadours are guaranteed to deliver joyous slabs of electro-pop, perfect to ignite Saturday’s famous party vibe.

Opening proceedings on Friday night are Brit-winning indie/electro rockers Bastille. With a new album in the pipeline for 2016 the number one charting four-piece will be crafting an upbeat set blending new material with hits including the platinum smash Pompeii and Of the Night.

In another first, the festival has commissioned No.6 composer-in-residence Joe Duddell to work with the world-class Manchester Camerata chamber orchestra on an exclusive David Bowie Reimagined performance. Joe and Manchester Camerata's last collaboration was providing the strings for New Order’s incredible new album Music:Complete. Their exclusive No.6 performance will feature arrangements of iconic songs from across Bowie’s career, with very special guest vocalists on each song, in what promises to be one of the highlights of this year’s No.6 and indeed the festival season.

Also appearing on the bill is Scandinavian synthpop chanteuse Aurora and BBC Sound of 2016 finalists Blossoms.

Other confirmed live acts include Mercury nominated C Duncan, Django Django, Echo & The Bunnymen, Frances, Gwenno, JP Cooper, Lawrence Taylor, Lucy Rose, NGOD, Oh Wonder, Oscar, Roots Manuva, Roisin Murphy and The Amazons.

The festival is again welcoming The Nest Collective, founded by Mercury Music prize nominee Sam Lee, and voted BBC Folk Club of 2010. Their stage will play host to an eclectic range of acts and artists across the weekend including feted folk-rock outfit This Is The Kit.

Rightfully renowned for its electronic bill, No.6 has also unveiled the first of it’s DJ line-up including, Andrew Weatherall & Sean Johnston present A Love from Outer Space, 6 Music funk and soul maestro Craig Charles, Fleetmac Wood, Joy Orbison, Kate Simko & The London Electronic Orchestra, Optimo (Until the Music Stops), Smooth Sailing presents Kaftan Discotheque and The 2 Bears.

This is only the first wave of announcements for this year’s No.6, with a second wave of artists and the much anticipated arts and culture programme all to be announced over the next couple of months.

Festival founder Gareth Cooper said: “This is year five and it just keeps getting better and better. We’re extremely excited about this year’s festival - our first wave of artists and DJ’s is better than ever and there are plenty more surprises up our sleeves.

“We also have a huge amount to announce on the culture, arts and food side of the festival which has become the real heart of No.6. All will be revealed very soon but I I’m convinced 2016 is destined to be the best yet.”

Festival No.6 is an intimate, bespoke banquet of music, arts and culture, taking place over the weekend of the 1-4 September in the magical village of Portmeirion, Wales, home of the cult TV series The Prisoner. With many more music acts a huge arts and cultural line-up, new venues and Michelin starred-chefs yet to be revealed the fifth Festival No.6 is certain to be the most impressive to date.

Acts will perform across the entire site, by the whimsical Italianate architecture of the village, the historic town hall, piazza, Bristol Colonnade, the picturesque Estuary stage, the atmospheric woods and the promenade along the River Dwyryd.

Constructed between 1925 and 1975 by maverick architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, Portmeirion is a wonderfully bizarre and elaborate interpretation of a Mediterranean villa, nestled in the stunning mountains and forests of North Wales overlooking the expansive estuarial waters of the Irish Sea.
