Lionel Richie to play second Eden Sessions date

Global legend Lionel Richie will play a second date at next year's Eden Sessions with ASUS.

The second show takes place on Wednesday June 15, 2016. The announcement comes after the first date (June 14) sold out quickly after tickets went on general sale on Tuesday.

The singer-songwriter from Tuskegee Alabama, whose smash hits include Hello, Dancing on the Ceiling and All Night Long, will play at the home of the famous Biomes as part of his All The Hits world tour.

With more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, Lionel Richie is a global star and music icon with four Grammys, a Golden Globe and an Oscar to his name.

He first found fame singing and writing songs with The Commodores including the all-time classics Three Times A Lady, Stuck On You, Still, and Easy.

After turning solo he became one of the most successful artists of the 1980s, earning a string of 13 top ten hits between 1981 and 1987, including nine number one singles such as Endless Love, Truly, and Say You (Say Me).

On the heels of the success of his Tuskegee album, in 2013 Lionel launched a global tour entitled All The Hits, All Night Long and he has proved to fans that he can deliver exactly that.

A two-hour set spanning his entire catalogue of music has led to a fan frenzy and high praise from press around the world. Lionel has taken the tour to every part of the planet including Europe, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and North America.

He had chart success in the UK last year following his hugely popular performance to a crowd of 100,000 on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. He hit the number one spot yet again with his album The Definitive Collection.

Lionel said: "I had such a great time in the UK this year and I can't wait to visit new places and meet new people. Performing at Glastonbury for the first time was such a thrill for me and given me an appetite to do new things in the UK. I know these shows are going to be very special."

Eden Marketing Director Rita Broe said: "We're very pleased to announce that Lionel Richie is playing a second date at the Eden Sessions after we experienced such high demand for the first show. We hope that this will enable people who weren't able to get tickets for the first date to see this global star at our magical venue."

The Eden Sessions enter their fifteenth year in 2016. Last year saw the legendary Elton John play two consecutive headline shows. The other 2015 Eden Sessions were headlined by Paolo Nutini, Paloma Faith, Motorhead and Ben Howard.
