Triptykon

Triptykon is a Swiss metal band from Zürich, formed in 2008 by Thomas Gabriel Fischer. Fischer is the founding member of Hellhammer, Celtic Frost and Apollyon Sun, and he announces Triptykon shortly after his departure from Celtic Frost in 2008. The name comes from the Greek word for a triptych, reflecting the project as Fischer’s third major band after Hellhammer and Celtic Frost. The band’s logo is inspired by a writing pattern used during the Weimar Republic.

Releases

Triptykon’s debut album is Eparistera Daimones, recorded in 2009 and released through a licensing arrangement between Prowling Death Records Ltd. and Century Media Records in 2010. The band follows it with the EP Shatter in 2010, which also has a music video for its title track. A second album, Melana Chasmata, is released in 2014 and receives a strong critical response.

Line-up and activity

The band is active in the doom metal, black metal, avant-garde metal and thrash metal spheres. In 2017, drummer Norman Lonhard leaves the group, and the band begins searching for a replacement after his final show at Party.San Open Air in Schlotheim, Germany.
