Tribes of the City
Tribes of the City are a Latvian shoegaze and dream pop group active since 2006. They develop a dense live sound built from layered guitars, noise textures and the vocals of Ksenija Zaķe. The band is known as the first shoegaze act in Latvia.
History
The group forms in 2003 and gains local recognition with Running to the Sun, released in 2004. In 2006 they work on the next album with producer Greg Haver, who has previously produced Manic Street Preachers and Super Furry Animals. In 2007 they receive a nomination for MTV Music Awards in the Best Baltic Act category.
Releases and reception
The band’s records receive praise from Latvian music critics and win multiple awards. After a long break, they return in 2019 with a release described as their most acclaimed record to date.
Live activity
Tribes of the City play concerts and festivals in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Russia, Lithuania and Estonia.

Current members are Ints Barkāns, Sergejs Jaramišjans, Jurijs Justs, Mihails Sergejevs, Andrejs Vasiļjevs and Ksenija Zaķe.
