Scann-Tec

Scann-Tec is the electronic music project of Vladislav Isaev, a composer and sound sculptor from Moscow, Russia. He is born in 1981 and begins writing music as a hobby in 1996, later moving into psytrance and ambient.

Work and projects

In 2006, Isaev takes part in the Sundial Aeon project as composer and DJ. The following year he sets up Aural Network, his own music company and label. He also works as audio director for NIVAL, a Russian game developer, and composes music for television series.

He works as main sound designer and audio director for The Mystery of Dion, part of the Russian children’s television programme Good Night Kids.

Collaborations and releases

Isaev collaborates with The Future Sound of London and Mark Morgan on several projects. With his partner Elena, he starts Broadcast of Variants, an electronic project built around field recordings from Russia mixed with video into a single flow. The project’s first track appears on FSOLdigital, The Future Sound of London’s digital label.

After releasing a couple of EPs on Kahvi Records and Acedia Music, he issues his first album, Facial Memories, on Celestial Dragon. He also contributes tracks to Ultimae’s Fahrenheit Project compilations, including ASD, which appears in the soundtrack of the Romanian film Afterimage, directed by Catalin Leescu. His live recording Morpheus | live Nuit Hypnotique 4 from La Filature is also available digitally on Ultimae.

Other interests

Outside electronic music, Isaev plays his 1905 acoustic piano, a G. Schchwechten instrument, and studies scores such as Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande and Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien. He names Debussy as a favourite composer alongside Ravel, Mahler, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky. He also studies Russian culture and music history, makes films, and is a photographer.
