Po!

Po! are an indie band from Leicester, United Kingdom, active from 1987 to the present. They are usually placed in the C86 or twee pop area, and their songs combine jangly guitars and melodies with lyrics that often touch on misogyny, disappointment and nostalgia.

Formation and early line-up

The band forms in Leicester in 1987, with Ruth Miller on vocals and guitar, Julian Glover on bass, and Mark Fuccio on drums. Miller is also known as Ruth Po!. After two years playing with Ruth's Refrigerator, she later re-forms Po! with a revised line-up.

Later line-ups and releases

In the later version of the group, Terri Lowe joins on guitar, Paul Knight on drums, and Gary Gilchrist on bass. This line-up records the album Ducks and Drakes and several EPs. By the time the LP Not Marked on the Ordnance Map appears, Gilchrist has left and Lowe has taken over bass and guitar duties.
