MasterSystem

MasterSystem is a name used by more than one act, including Mastersystem, a Scottish collective founded in Berlin in 2016 by members of Frightened Rabbit, Minor Victories and Editors. That group brings together Scott Hutchison and his brother Grant Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit with Justin Lockey of Editors and his brother James Lockey, who also plays with Minor Victories. Because of their existing commitments, the project does not release material until 2018.

Mastersystem

Mastersystem releases its debut single, “Notes on a Life Not Quite Lived,” in 2018 and follows it with the first album, Dance Music, later that year. The record draws on fuzzed-up 1990s grunge, and the quartet tours it across a string of UK dates in 2018.

Other acts using the name

Other artists also use the name MasterSystem, including a hip-hop group from Edinburgh, Scotland made up of two female vocalists, one MC and one DJ, and a punk band from Widnes, between Liverpool and Manchester. The Edinburgh group focuses on socially conscious, politically provocative hip-hop, while the Widnes band describes its songs as ranging from satire to material about the thoughts of bored men and boys.
