Madison Beer

Madison Beer is an American singer and songwriter from Nassau County, United States, born in 1999. Her music spans alternative pop, dance-pop, pop and singer-songwriter styles, and she is also active as a social media influencer.

Early attention and recording career

Beer begins posting cover versions on YouTube in early 2012. Justin Bieber draws attention to her version of Etta James’ “At Last”, which brings her wider media coverage and a strong online response. Bieber later signs her to the same label he is on at the time, Island Records, with Scooter Braun managing her.

She works with Monster High and records the franchise theme song “We Are Monster High”. In February 2013, Cody Simpson re-releases “Valentine” with Beer, and the song plays on Radio Disney, though it is not formally issued. Her debut single, “Melodies”, follows in 2013 and includes Bieber in the video. She also begins work on a debut album planned around pop and R&B influences, but the album is later believed to have been shelved.

Singles, EPs and collaborations

Beer’s second single, “Unbreakable”, arrives in 2014. In 2015 she appears on Mako’s “I Won’t Let You Walk Away”, which reaches the US dance and electronic charts, and she also releases “All For Love” with Jack & Jack. She records her first EP, As She Pleases, over three years and releases it in 2018. The EP is preceded by the singles “Dead”, “Say It to My Face” and “Home with You”. “Home with You” reaches number 21 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart in 2018, and Beer is noted at that point as the only female solo artist on the chart without a major label.

She makes her official festival debut at Lollapalooza in Chicago in August 2018. Later that year she features on David Guetta’s “Blame It On Love” from the album 7, voices the virtual character Evelynn in Riot Games’ K/DA project, and performs on “Pop/Stars” with Miyeon, Soyeon and Jaira Burns. The song is used in connection with League of Legends. She also appears on “All Day and Night” by Jax Jones and Martin Solveig under their Europa alias, and on “Hurts Like Hell” with Offset.

Life Support and later work

Beer signs with Epic Records in 2019. That year she releases “Dear Society” as the first single from her debut studio album, Life Support. The album follows in 2021 and is co-written entirely by Beer, who also co-produces most of it. It includes “Selfish”, which gains traction on TikTok and earns RIAA gold certification. Life Support debuts at number 65 on the US Billboard 200 and reaches the top 30 in Canada and on the UK albums chart.

In the same period she releases “Reckless”, which becomes a Top 40 title on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart. She also announces and extends The Life Support Tour, which includes North American and European legs with Maggie Lindemann, Audriix and Leah Kate as support acts.

Beer continues with soundtrack and featured releases, including “Room For You” for Clifford the Big Red Dog and “I Have Never Felt More Alive” for Fall. She also releases “Dangerous” and “Showed Me (How I Fell in Love with You)” as singles from her second studio album cycle. Her stated musical influences include Lana Del Rey, Daft Punk, Melanie Martinez and Ariana Grande.

Other projects and appearances

Outside music, Beer co-founds the skincare brand Know Beauty with Vanessa Hudgens. She also works on a fashion collaboration with Boohoo. In addition, she appears on television series including Todrick and RuPaul’s Drag Race, and in the film Louder Than Words.
