Gravenhurst
Gravenhurst is a British post-rock group active from 1999 to 2014, centred on singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Nick Talbot. Talbot is from Bristol, England, and the project is signed to Warp Records.
Formation and line-up
Talbot begins by recording Gravenhurst largely as a solo project and initially plays all of the instruments on the recordings. From 1999, the project tours extensively as a band. The first full-band line-up includes Dave Collingwood on drums and bassist Paul Nash. Nash later leaves to focus on his own project, North Sea Navigator, and Huw Cooksley replaces him. Robin Allender and Alex Wilkins later join on bass and guitar respectively.
Dave Collingwood plays with Azalea City Penis Club and performs the increasingly complex drum parts on Fires in Distant Buildings and again on The Western Lands (2007). He plays in the live band from 2000 and leaves in 2008.
Activity and collaborations
Talbot collaborates with Guy Bartell in Bronnt Industries Kapital. Outside Gravenhurst, he keeps a blog called The Police Diver's Notebook and edits an adult web comic, Ultraskull. Talbot dies in 2014.
