Dymons

Dymons is Daniel Symons, a United Kingdom-based electronic artist working in psychedelic trance and downtempo. He begins drumming at a young age, first using pots and pans before moving on to proper percussion, and later travels widely with a focus on rhythm, live performance and world percussion.

Background

At 17, he travels towards Morocco with drumsticks and returns with a darbuka. He then travels on to West Africa with a full drum kit and exchanges it for African drums in Burkina Faso. Over time he moves across five inhabited continents, gathering instruments and musical experience from different cultures, and records material on a digital tape recorder while travelling.

Live work and collaborations

He performs more than a thousand live shows in over 30 countries with musicians from many different backgrounds and across a wide range of genres. Festival and event appearances include Glade, Boom, Wickerman, Life Festival, Waveform, Outback Eclipse, Soulclipse, Rainbow Serpent, Zoom, Paleo, Rastecas, TranceKarma, Quest for Goa, Synergy, Exodus, Morocco 2001, Mystery of Eleusis, Psyberpunk, Temple of Light, The MicroCosm, Biolive, and FrakaSound.

He also works with the Peaking Goddess Collective, a live ambient and trance band, writing, recording, mixing and performing with the project. In addition, he mixes the album Flooting Grooves - Upsyde Downe on Peak Records with Pearce van der Merwe, and releases tracks on international compilations.

Other activity

His work also extends into trance rituals and healing ceremonies, where he accompanies activities such as firewalking, trancedancing and sweatlodges, and explores altered states of consciousness through encounters with shamans and medicine men and women.
