Clams Casino is the recording name of Michael Volpe, a producer and songwriter from Nutley, United States. He works in alternative R&B, cloud rap, experimental hip hop, instrumental hip hop and trap, and is associated with Clammyclams Music.

Career

He gains attention through production work for rappers including Soulja Boy and Lil B, and his name becomes closely linked with the post-2010 rap sound. His productions are known for combining rap rhythms with melodic harmony, pop-leaning sensibility and hazy, dreamlike textures.

Clams Casino releases the genre-bending EP Rainforest on Tri Angle, and later issues the LP Instrumentals, a collection of some of his most notable beats. Heard without vocals, these tracks still function as complete pieces, with half-heard voices, distorted rolling beats, acid-drenched samples, ambience and tightly constructed arrangements taking the lead.

He also releases a second instrumental mixtape, Instrumental Mixtape 2, which is made available for free via his Twitter under sponsorship from Platin Casino.
