Bridges

Bridges is the name used by several different artists, including a Norwegian rock band, an Austin, Texas indie rock band, a Seattle rock quartet, an alternative band from Torquay in Devon, a melodic hardcore and punk band from California’s Central Valley, an indie rock band from Bucharest, a post-punk and dream pop artist from Raleigh, an indie band from Caracas, and an EDM and progressive house artist. It is also the name of Pål Waaktaar and Magne Furuholmen’s first group before a-ha.

Norwegian rock band

The Norwegian Bridges release a self-financed LP in Norway on the Våkenatt label called Fakkeltog (also known as Torch-light procession). The album is limited to 1,000 copies, with only a small number sold, and it becomes highly sought after among a-ha fans. The music is heavily influenced by The Doors. The record is produced by Svein Erichsen and mixed by Svein Erichsen and Tore Aarnes. The line-up features Pål Waaktaar on guitar and vocals, Magne Furuholmen on synthesizers, Øystein Jevanord on drums and percussion, and Viggo Bondi on bass guitar.

Other acts using the name

The Austin, Texas Bridges consist of Ben Clancey and Kayla Kleepak, with production by Charlie Goodson and Matt Squires and assistance from Philip Woodbury of Burywood and Greg Daly of A Tiny Fox. They are linked to American Mid-Fi Records.

The Seattle, Washington version is a quartet made up of Mike, Rob, John, and Jack, and is associated with Under a Cloud Records.

The Torquay, Devon band forms on New Year’s Eve 2007 and includes Chris Lambourne on guitar and songwriting, Matt Milward on vocals, guitar, piano, and lyrics, and Zak Jennings on drums. The group begins writing and gigging after Jennings joins in April and works on its first demo tape, made up of about five songs by Chris and Matt.

The Central Valley of California melodic hardcore band forms in 2009 in Fresno. It releases a demo that year and a self-released EP, Of This Fury..., in April 2010, and later records a second EP.

The Raleigh, North Carolina artist releases the album Glass Mask in October 2013.

The Caracas act is described as a Venezuelan indie rock band with a relaxed mood. The EDM, chill, and progressive house artist releases a first single, Bahrain/Magnetic, in 2023.
