Wolverton Folk & Blues Fair 2026
Taking place on Saturday 9 May 2026, the Wolverton Folk & Blues Fair returns to the scenic grounds of Wolverton Manor in Shorwell, Monmouthshire. This one-day festival celebrates music, community, and local culture in the heart of the West Wight countryside.
Music
Enjoy live performances across multiple stages featuring acoustic folk, foot-stomping blues, bluegrass, and Americana. The beer-tent acoustic area offers a relaxed setting with live sets and jam sessions that continue into the evening.
Food & Drink
A range of craft and food stalls showcase Isle of Wight produce including wood-fired pizza, farmhouse cheeses, cider doughnuts, and traditional cream teas. The real ale tent and tea tent provide perfect spots to unwind with refreshing drinks.
Family Activities
Families can take part in creative arts projects, kids’ workshops, and vibrant Morris dancing, keeping children entertained throughout the day.
Community & Charity
All ticket proceeds support local causes such as young cancer care and the Brighstone community school, making the festival a celebration of both music and giving back to the Isle of Wight community.
Shorwell is in the southwest of the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. Getting there is straightforward because the Island is connected by frequent ferry routes and local roads. Major ferry lines link Portsmouth (Wightlink to Fishbourne) and Lymington (Wightlink to Yarmouth) with the Isle of Wight, and Red Funnel runs ferries from Southampton to East Cowes. Ferry crossings take around 30–60 minutes. Mainline trains serve Portsmouth Harbour and Southampton Central, allowing easy transfer to the ferry terminals. The nearest airport is Southampton, though visitors also use London Gatwick or Heathrow followed by train or coach to the ferry.
Once on the Isle of Wight, continue by car or bus to Shorwell. From Fishbourne (the Portsmouth ferry) the drive is about 15 miles (roughly 30 minutes) west via Newport, and from East Cowes (Southampton ferry) the route is similar via Newport. Entering postcode PO30 3JS (Wolverton Manor) in a GPS will guide you to the festival grounds. On busy days, on-site parking is usually available but can fill up quickly; car-sharing is recommended. Alternatively, Southern Vectis buses connect Newport to Shorwell. In particular, Route 12 (Newport–Freshwater via Brighstone) and Route 14 serve Shorwell village; from those stops it is a short walk to Wolverton Manor. Taxis are also available on the Island if needed.
For overnight stays, the West Wight area offers many options. Shorwell itself has cosy bed & breakfasts and country inns, and nearby Brighstone and Yarmouth have hotels and guesthouses. The town of Newport (about 10 miles away) also has larger hotels and restaurants. Camping is popular too: there are family-friendly campsites and holiday parks scattered around West Wight. Because summer weekends and special events can book up, it is wise to reserve lodging in advance. A night in one of the Island’s charming villages means you can relax in the countryside before or after the festival.
