Winter Wilson

Winter Wilson are a UK folk and roots group formed by Dave Wilson and Kip Winter after the end of their earlier act, Ragtrade. Their first appearance is billed as Kip and Dave, although that name is later dropped in favour of Winter Wilson.

Members and background

Dave Wilson is raised in Sleaford in Lincolnshire. Kip Winter is born in Germany and grows up in different places as her family moves. The group works mainly with original songs, alongside a small number of carefully chosen covers.

Recordings

Their debut album is By the Skin of Our Teeth. It is followed by Matter of Time, I Hear Voices Sing and These Are the Things. These later releases are made up entirely of original material.

Songwriting

Dave Wilson’s songs are taken up by other singers on the folk scene, helping to build the group’s reputation on the folk and roots circuit.
