Mostly Jazz, Funk & Soul Festival

Come to the Mostly Jazz, Funk & Soul Festival from 10–12 July 2026 in Birmingham for a lively three-day music celebration. Held in Moseley Park, a stunning 11-acre woodland glade near the city centre, this festival feels worlds away from the urban hustle. Its sloping lawns and tranquil lakeside amphitheatre provide a picture-perfect natural stage for concerts. The venue is widely regarded as one of the best locations for a jazz festival in the UK. You’ll hear a mix of tight jazz combos, funky grooves, and soulful melodies from morning through sunset.

Diverse Lineup

Mostly Jazz stands out for its diverse musical lineup and inclusive vibe. It highlights innovative UK music alongside international artists, so you can expect a mix of sounds: from classic jazz and blues to upbeat funk and smooth soul, with occasional Latin or Afrobeat rhythms between sets. The bands range from veteran headliners to exciting newcomers, and sound production is top-notch. Fans can dance on the grassy hillside or relax on the lawn and really soak in the music.

Family-Friendly Atmosphere

The event is known for its relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. Children under 12 often enter free with a paying adult, so many parents bring kids along to enjoy the tunes. During the day you might see families picnicking by the lake while a jazz combo plays, and evenings become a fun dance-party under the stars. Onsite food and drink vendors offer local craft beers, cocktails, and snacks so you can grab a bite between sets. The friendly crowd and picturesque park setting make everyone feel at home.

Festival Experience

Beyond just concerts, Mostly Jazz feels like a unique summer party in the woods. Moseley Park’s open-air amphitheatre and lakeside stage let people lounge or groove as they like. Picnic blankets dot the lawn and fans spin or sway under the trees while bands play. This mix of great live music and beautiful surroundings has made Mostly Jazz a highlight of Birmingham’s summer calendar. If you love soulful tunes, funky rhythms, or simply a fun outdoor vibe, this festival won’t disappoint.

Getting to the Festival

Birmingham’s main train and bus stations make getting around easy. Birmingham New Street and Moor Street stations connect to the national rail network, and from either you can take local buses toward Moseley Park. In particular, the No.50 bus runs roughly every 10 minutes from Moor Street or Digbeth and reaches Moseley in about 10–15 minutes. Other bus routes (1, 35, 50A, etc.) also pass along Alcester Road near the park. Coaches arrive at Digbeth Coach Station (a short walk from Moor Street), so you can hop on the No.50 bus to Moseley.

Traveling by Car

If you drive, arriving is straightforward. From the south, follow the M42 to junction 3 (then A435 toward Moseley); from the north, take the M6 to junction 6 and then the A38 into Birmingham. Once in Moseley, follow signs to Alcester Road (B4131) toward the park. Onsite parking is not available and street parking is limited, so many visitors park in Kings Heath or Balsall Heath and take a short bus ride (like the No.50) back to the festival.

Traveling by Air

Birmingham Airport (BHX) is the closest airport, about 9.3 miles from Moseley by road. It has good rail and bus links to the city: trains run to Birmingham International and Moor Street, after which you can take a taxi or the No.50 bus to the festival. Manchester and London airports also connect to Birmingham by train or coach if needed. At Digbeth Coach Station (near Moor Street), you can catch the No.50 bus directly to Moseley.

Accommodation

Birmingham’s city centre has a wide range of hotels, hostels, and B&Bs. Staying near Broad Street, the Jewellery Quarter, or Digbeth will put you close to transport links. If you prefer to sleep closer to the venue, look for guesthouses or rentals in Moseley or nearby Kings Heath. Wherever you stay, plan ahead – hotels fill up quickly during busy summer weekends. Booking early and choosing a place with good access to buses or parking will make your trip smoother.
