The Big Session

Hosted by Oysterband, the cream of English folk gather in the handsome spa town of Buxton to welcome in the Summer. The festival features a series of concerts with a mini beer festival and Pavilion Gardens drinks Emporium providing the setting for the Big Session Ceilidh with the Oysterband and guests, and music sessions throughout the weekend led by Big Session concert artists and more.

Set right in the heart of Buxton in the spectacular Opera House, the Pavilion Arts Centre and beautiful Pavilion Gardens, the festival venues are just a short walk from the town centre, accommodation and public transport links.

The Peak District and High Peak are great areas to explore, and fringe activities include a Folk Train from Manchester Piccadilly and a May Day ramble led by John Jones.

Musicians are welcome to join the open sessions in the Pavilion Gardens Marquee and an instrument cloakroom service will be provided.
